Kate Baxter, Assistant Dean of the Faculty, manages the search and appointment process of all assistant professors, professional librarians (including the C/5), lecturers, and visiting faculty in the four academic divisions, and all University Center, Institute, and Program directors. Kate reviews and approves all faculty sabbatical requests, as well as the extension of term requests for childbirth/adoption and all workload relief requests for new parents. She evaluates all faculty reporting for the Conflict of Interest process and serves as the DOF liaison with the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity. Kate manages the selection process for two major honorific teaching awards: the President's Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Visiting Professorship for Distinguished Teaching.
Kate has worked in areas including student life, academic affairs, diversity programs, and alumni and development. Prior to joining Princeton in September 2015, Kate worked most recently as Executive Director of Alumni Affairs at Columbia Business School. She has a BA from Villanova University and an MA in Student Personnel Administration from Teachers College at Columbia University; she earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California in May 2010 with a dissertation focused on undergraduate women in the STEM fields.
Originally from Westchester County, New York, Kate has lived in Connecticut, Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, and now Princeton. She has traveled throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States; next up on her travel bucket list are Spain and Fiji!
