As Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty, Oliver oversees the faculty search process and the recruitment and appointment process for assistant professors, instructors, and senior lecturers. He administers the appointment and reappointment of program chairs and directors, the extension of term and workload relief processes following childbirth or adoption, as well as faculty requests for medical accommodation. Oliver also represents the ODOF on a number of committees, including the Committee on the Course of Study.
Prior to joining the Dean’s office, Oliver was the dean of Rockefeller College for thirteen years and, before that, an assistant professor in the Politics Department, specializing in political theory. He has a B.A. from Williams and a Ph.D. from Yale.
For fun, Oliver collects loud and lilting music from around the world and builds his own bikes; he can be obsessive about films and road biking, his only form of exercise.
