Board of Trustees Reporting

Major personnel actions involving tenured and tenure-track faculty must be approved by the Board of Trustees prior to taking effect. 

Actions that Require Board Reporting

  • New appointments
  • Reappointments
  • Promotions
  • Resignations
  • Retirements
  • Award of preceptorships and endowed chairs
  • Creation and/or name change of preceptorships and endowed chairs
  • Change in department affiliation (for example moving to or from a joint appointment)
  • Change in academic department name
  • Revised appointment dates
  • Rescinded acceptances

Timing

The Board of Trustees meets five times during the academic year: in September, November, January, March, and May. 

For the academic year 2023-24, materials for inclusion in the reports to the Board of Trustees are due to the Office of the Dean of the Faculty on the following dates: 

  • September 08, 2023
  • November 03, 2023
  • January 12, 2024
  • March 08, 2024
  • May 10, 2024

Neither individual academic units nor the university may publicize the fact of any of these major personnel actions prior to Board approval.  Letters memorializing these actions will be placed in the personnel files of those affected in the days following the Board meeting.
