April 23, 2025 “In recognition of his innovative approach to educating students about emerging developments in concrete construction technology, where his forward-thinking vision inspires the next generation of concrete engineering students” Prof. Moini has received the Walter P. Moore, Jr., Faculty Achievement Award from American Concrete Institute. This award is in recognition of his efforts in development of his modern approaches in teaching material science, mechanics, and design of cement-based structures within a civil engineering curriculum in North America. Professor Moini has developed a new undergraduate course in Princeton CEE, “Autonomous Fabrication and Robotics” which uses a combination of lectures and labs to teach about advancement in autonomous fabrication that enable progress in design of engineered materials and structures. This award recognizes his current undergraduate teaching at Princeton and previous teaching contributions in this area. He is grateful for this award, which will help his group foster new exploratory directions in architected materials and robotics. The Walter P. Moore, Jr., Faculty Achievement Award was established in 2001 to honor the late Walter P. Moore, Jr., ACI Fellow, an ACI Board member, and a structural engineer in Texas. This award is given to an individual with less than 7 years served in all faculty positions. The award recognizes excellence and innovation in the teachings of concrete design, materials, or construction, with demonstrated evidence of technical competence, high character, and integrity. This award received continued naming financial support from Walter P Moore in 2023.The awardees were recognized at the opening ceremony of American Concrete Institute Spring 2025 Convention in Toronto, Canada.
