Position Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Role Divisions I & II Office Phone 609-258-8348 Email [email protected] Office 005 Stanhope Hall Bio/Description Philip Katz, assistant dean for academic affairs, coordinates the recruitment and appointment of all lecturers, professional researchers, visiting faculty, and visiting academic professionals in the humanities and social sciences. He sets and manages the faculty teaching and graduate student assistant-in-instruction budgets for these departments and oversees the faculty sabbatical leave process. Phil also collaborates on the promotion process for the lecturer ranks in all four academic divisions and frequently prepares materials for teaching-focused committees and projects.Phil initially joined the Office of the Dean of the Faculty in 2021, serving as academic administration fellow. Before arriving at Princeton, Phil spent several years teaching and conducting field research in Greece and Italy. He holds a doctorate in Classics from New York University.In his downtime, Phil enjoys spoiling his cat, perusing used bookstores and exploring the hidden corners of New York City.
