Bio/Description

Toni Turano is responsible for long-range planning and policies affecting the faculty and academic professionals. She oversees all policy and procedural aspects of faculty searches and appointments, reappointments and promotions, leaves, and complaints. She also oversees the allocation and budgeting of academic resources for departments and programs, and manages the Faculty Advisory Committee on Diversity.

Toni’s previous professional experience was in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, where she served as Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, Allston Burr Senior Tutor, and taught in the Department of History and the Program in History and Literature. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in History from Harvard; her dissertation examined dissent from the national church and the ideological origins of religious toleration in seventeenth-century England.
