Short Term (Temporary) Disability
When you are unable to perform your job due to an illness, an injury or a disability that is not related to work, Princeton University provides an income replacement plan, allowing you to focus on your recuperation.
From your first day of work and if you are eligible for benefits, Princeton provides disability insurance at no cost to you. Our Short Term Disability Plan provides income replacement for up to 26 weeks as long as you apply within the first two weeks you are absent from work and your medical provider submits the necessary documentation.
Update to Short Term Disability Policy for COVID-19 Diagnosis
March 12, 2020
Faculty and staff who are diagnosed with COVID-19 (coronavirus) can apply for short term disability benefits by completing a newly created form that simplifies and expedites the review and approval process.
Individuals with questions should contact the Benefits Team at benefits@princeton.edu or (609) 258-3302.
While the University intends to continue each of the benefit plans, the University reserves the right to terminate or amend any plan, at any time, and for any reason.
